Beijing design week 2013 …“APPROPRIATE, MUTATE, INNOVATE” or “AMI”… Exhibition

2013/09/27

Our design is aimed at showing the vast amount of chopsticks that are consumed daily, as well as giving them a second life by turning them into a new product. In order to achieve that sense of awareness, we resorted to a product that is easy to relate to, both in terms of size and use: a brick.

The outcome is three models of brick of 24x12x6 cm the first composed by entire chopsticks, and the other two by halves and quarters of them respectively, with no leftover waste.
After being used, chopsticks are collected and cleaned in order to start the manufacturing of bricks. The production of the full-length-chopstick bricks needs no more than compressing and gluing them into the standard dimensions.
