NAX – Hosting German Peers in Beijing

In the end of October, we received a group of German architects coming to Beijing for a program organized by Constellations for Network for Architecture Exchange (NAX).

To answer the theme question - "How can architects -and other further partners in the value chain- contribute to cautious urban renewal for sustainable cities?", we guided these guests through Beijing's old town. The field trip started at the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall, continued on through Qianmen merchant pedestrian street and extended throughout the old Hutong area in Dashilar. We aimed at showing the different historical layers as a result of this city's long-termed urban planning course.

Back in the office of Crossboundaries, in a Pecha Kucha night of the delegation members, DONG Hao also gave a keynote speech on our understanding of Beijing's development trends and our practical experiences from some projects in the Hutongs.
