In collaboration with tobe.STADT and Kölling Architects BDA & Stefan Bernard Landscape architects, our Frankfurt Crossboundaries has developed the winning urban design that sets a preliminary framework for the city’s future building plan in the Nordend district.

Responding to the needs of affordable housing the Günthersburghöfe urban plan references a more classical urban structure that provides housing, public services and leisure opportunities. More importantly, the design respects the need to preserve the existing natural landscape.

The design concept is deeply influenced by an engaged civic participation and was partitioned in a way to allow for diversified ownership and a variety of accommodation options. A clearly defined settlement outline preserves the existing gardens and tree population.

The urban design presents a significant contribution to the future fabric of Frankfurt and a bench mark for the city’s inevitable expansion.
