A car parking has to be connected with adjacent functions via a footbridge to ensure safe and comfortable pathways for employees. Alternative design studies have to provide economic solutions and satisfy the client´s functional and aesthetic requirements. As a basis for further planning decisions the design has to meet complex conditions such as
∙ existing security requirements relating to the intersection of the site borders,
∙ the superposition of the paths with logistics and production processes,
∙ the needs of employees for short and convenient routes and
∙ significant structural and infrastructural constraints (lack of space, required span etc.).

The design develops a c-shaped steel structure, which optimizes it´s structural behavior through rotation between the supports. A membrane envelope serves as an economical weather protection. The opening of the bridge volume directs the pedestrian’s attention to the adjoining landscape. The commission covers a site analysis, design studies in alternative embodiments (location, structural, materialization) and cost estimates.
