Aimer Factory Landscape

Aimer Lingerie established business in 1992 and is a leading national company in producing underwear, body wear, and high-end lingerie.

So as to fulfill the requirements of the company’s flagship, the design is based on six key points: unity, functionality, communication, density, breathing capability and inner landscape.

In recent years the importance of lingerie and lingerie related products has increased more and more. Therefore the client was planning a complex, not only to house their production line, but also a distribution center, storage facility, research and development department, as well as offices. This complex should be able to represent an image of the company, and be visible from the exterior as well as the interior. So as to fulfill the requirements of the company’s flagship, the design is based on six key points: unity, functionality, communication, density, breathing capability and inner landscape.

Unity: a single complex is going to represent an entire company. To strengthen the company image, the different functions will be housed under a single façade, so as for the complex to appear as a whole.

Functionality: use of rational volumes to maximize efficiency. A factory is meant to be productive; and the architectural design should therefore start from defining the most suitable volumes for each different function.

Communication: having such different functions under one roof should serve to make the company work as an integrated whole. So as to improve the quality of the factory, a platform connecting the different parts of it is set at level +13 m, creating an inner landscape.

Density: the site needs to be optimized. In order to allow for a potential growth of the complex, the building is compressed to the southern part of the site.

Breathing: this complex is not just another factory, but something else. To make this “something else” real, the quality of the environment is improved by treating the building as a volume crossed by air, light and greenery.

Inner landscape: the building is turned inside-out, so that the landscape becomes an intrinsic part of it. Not only does the landscape become a retreat area, but it also brings life into the heart of the building.
