Signage Crossboundaries Office

A former auditorium is transformed into lofty contemporary workspaces.

A former auditorium is transformed into lofty contemporary workspaces. Centered around an atrium, windows open into four offices spaces, extending the sense of the open floor plan. Inside mezzanine floors form voids with the original outer walls for circulation, air and light filtering from the skylights.

The signage system is embedded in the visual system of the entire school, guiding teachers and students to better participate in and shape the campus environment. The signage echoes the campus color scheme, building textures and the rich colors of the interior, highlighting the uniqueness and legibility of the campus from the inside out.

The facade of the campus is rich in colors, and the circulation is aided by the color-with the red art building as the center, and the yellow and green adjacent buildings, all representing colors of the landscape foliage. Similarly, the interior of the building also follows this circulation logic. Each building has its own color system, using the individual as the scale to enhance visual communication through signs.

Each interior space is a perfect combination of color, function, furniture and identification system. The flexible transformation not only meets current functional requirements, but also can adapt to long-term development needs; more importantly, it goes hand in hand with what Chaoyang Future School hopes to achieve as its long term goal:  to explore a comprehensive educational concept that meets the needs of future development by integrating existing social, economic and environmental resources; continue to provide an effective economic driving force for the “future”, and take responsibility for guiding the students, shaping and inspiring the new generation of social responsibility.
